Known for it’s beauty, vivid colours, clear waters, massive size and large array of marine life, it’s no surprise the Great Barrier Reef is considered as one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It is the largest reef system in the world and home to 5000-8000 species of molluscs and shellfish, 1500 species of fish, 30 species of marine mammals and over 400 species of hard and soft coral.

The Great Barrier Reef is a chain of 3000 individual coral reefs and 900 islands extending over 2600 km up the coast of north-eastern Australia, extending just south of Papua New Guinea. The marine park is 344 400 km2, which is roughly the size of Japan!
